Ice Bowl 2012 -- February 18, 2010 @ Oak Grove Park

Discers,

It has been quite some time since any news has been posted here, but the time has come again to throw the plastic. Heck, it has been a great winter to throw plastic almost every day!

Josh Johnson once again is running the Ice Bowl event and has always been a great tournament director for the Ice Bowl. In the past years he has promoted both the sport of disc golf in the winter as well as fundraising thousands of dollars for the Great Plains Food Bank. He has a message for everybody that follows:

"Just wanted to make sure everyone remembers that next weekend(Feb 18th) we are doing the ice bowl.  Registration starts at about 9am till 10:30.  Tourney starts at 11.  So if you are going to bring chili this would be the time to do it. There will be a prize for the best chili.

We are going to do 1 round of all 18 holes, 2 different divisions.  It will be a Open and a Amateur.  If we want to do double after that is up to you. I am going to ask that Sidestreet to make sure a bartender is there for 2pm.

The cost is $30, the 1st 30 get a players package which include a disc, towel and mini.  Also the 3 biggest donation raisers will receive free entry into the event. This includes prizes and cash donations.

Any questions shoot me a text at 306-2816 and make sure you tell me who you are."

I think this is pretty self-explanatory and that all available should check out the event. It is going to be a great time and proceeds will be going to a great cause. Thank you again to Josh for putting this on.

Keep on discin,

Joey

June 27, 2011 -- ND State Championships Information

There are some major decisions to be made as far as ND States goes.

The first major decision that I have already made is the fact that the ND State Tournament WILL NOT be in Fargo this year. We have experienced 5+ inches of rain within the last couple weeks, causing the Red River to rise well above flood stage once again. The river has been above flood stage for almost 90 straight days and I predict it will stay there for much more than 100 days with all of the rainfall in the area.

There is just too much water in Fargo to count on a dependable course. I desperately want to have it here, because we have a large amount for fundraising and huge local support from individuals and businesses, but I will be unable to do so.

I will still be running the 2011 ND State Championships on the 6-7 of August, but the location is going to change. I will be posting up the change hopefully before the weekend, but for sure by the 5th of July.

I want to apologize for all who have time, money, and investment in the Fargo location, but it is simply not feasible to have it here. Stay tuned for the location and updates.

February 22, 2011 -- ND State Location

Greetings to all of you disc golfers out there. I have a couple things that I would like to relay to the disc golf community about ND States.

I met with the Cass County Commission at the Fargo Courthouse today. I was on the agenda for having Orchard Glen and Forest River approved for use during the ND State Tournament. After some questioning by the Commission and by the Sheriff's Office, we have been granted permission to use the land! Please see the pictures below to see what we have to work with. I am liking what I see.

As of now, this is going to be the location. I am going to seek out some other options, but at least we have this as a definite if other locations don't come through.

Orchard Glen

Forest River

Please post any comments or questions that you have for all to see. I will post more info as it becomes available.

Also, thanks for all that came out to support the Ice Bowl. 28 brave souls came out on a beautiful day for disc. Fun was had by all. Josh Johnson did a great job for the tournament and also in raising money for a local charity (Great Plains Food Bank). Josh Dunham also deserves a round of applause for helping out.

Later,

Joey
